Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi and forward Victor Moses are among the 25-man Chelsea squad that will take part in the team's tour of the United States of America where they will play in the Guiness International Champions Cup.

The Europa League champions flew out of London for Washington DC on Tuesday and  will play against Serie A side Inter Milan by 1am on Friday morning.

The pre-season tournament will feature European heavyweights, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Juventus, Valencia and English Premier League side, Everton. Major League Soccer outfit, LA Galaxy will also take part in the six-day games.

Mikel Obi, who is a subject of interest from several European sides, rejoined his Chelsea team-mates early this week in time for the journey after being given an extended break following his involvement in the Super Eagles campaign at the FIFA Confederations Cup in June.

Moses on his part has been part of the Blues pre-season run and even scored in the Blues' 8-1 win over the Indonesian national team in the team's Asian tour.

Jose Mourinho's team are expected to play four games in the USA before returning to England on August 10.

ENYEAMA TO BECOME LILLE'S NUMBER ONE GOALKEEPER!...

Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, is set to take over as the first choice for Lille, from the 2013/2014 season.

The Nigeria international, who spent last season on a year-long loan deal at Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, spent time on the bench as second choice to Mikael Landreau.

However, according to reports in L'Equipe, coach Rene Girard will now elevate him to first choice, ahead of Steeve Elana who took charge after Landreau's exit in December 2012.

Enyeama has been linked with a move to Spain, but will now stay at the club if he is assured of a regular place in the Ligue 1 side.

TOTTENHAM AGREES WITH VALENCIA ON ROBERTO SOLDADO'S TRANSFER DEAL!

Valencia president Amadeo Salvo has confirmed Roberto Soldado is on the verge of joining Tottenham, describing the agreement between the two clubs as "total".

It was revealed on Sunday that the north London outfit are set to pay the striker's release clause of €30 million (£25.9m) following a phone call between Spurs' technical director, Franco Baldini, and Salvo.

And now, following former Valencia director Antonio Sese hinting that a deal had been struck, and current Los Che coach Miroslav Djukic seemingly resigned to losing Soldado, Salvo has confirmed a move in imminent.

"The agreement with Tottenham is total," Salvo is quoted as saying.

However, the Che chief has admitted that the switch will not be completed until issues involving Soldado's representatives have been resolved.

"A problem with the agents has emerged," he added. "[Once resolved] he will go."

Elsewhere, Tottenham centre-back Bongani Khumalo has joined Championship side Doncaster Rovers on a season-long loan.

The South Africa international spent last term at Greek side PAOK. This will be his third spell in England following stints at Preston and Reading.

TOTTENHAM FINALLY OPENS NEGOTIATIONS WITH REAL MADRID OVER £100MILLION GARETH BALE's TRANSFER MOVE!...

Tottenham have finally opened negotiations with Real Madrid over the £100million offer for Gareth Bale's transfer.

Spurs chairman,Daniel Levy had been adamant all summer that the club's most prized asset would not leave the club under any circumstances

However, Real's concerted campaign has borne fruit in the last couple of days, with their most recent tactic - a warning to Bale and his advisors that it is 'now or never' for him to force a move - prompting the 24-year-old to privately declare in a meeting with Levy that he wants to join the Spanish giants.

That has led the Spurs chairman, whose 'no sale' policy had been fully backed by owner Joe Lewis, to open dialogue with Real in the last 24 hours, with a meeting between Levy and Madrid president Florentino Perez expected to take place on August 6 in Florida.

Even now Levy will only sanction a sale if the deal - cash only - smashes the world record £80m fee Real paid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009. Tottenham are keen on Real left-back Fabio Coentrao, in particular, while Angel Di Maria is also seen by many as a good like-for-like replacement for Bale.

But big-money player exchange deals are a complicated matter, and Levy is keen that he realises the full monetary value for a player who still has three years left on his contract, preferring to keep any follow-up bid for Coentrao and Di Maria separate.

Though it is not a foregone conclusion that the transfer will go ahead - as recently as Monday, Tottenham were insistent no bids had yet even been formalised - Levy and manager Andre Villas-Boas are now making plans for the coming weeks to bolster the squad in Bale's absence.

Roberto Soldado is expected to arrive in a £25m deal from Valencia, joining fellow big-money recruits Paulinho and Nacer Chadli, while Romanian defender Vlad Chiriches is also expected to sign in a £7m deal from Steaua Bucharest.

It looks increasingly likely, though, that they will not be lining up alongside Bale next season, with Real pulling out all the stops to land a 'Galactico' summer signing to rival Barcelona's £50m capture of Neymar.

Despite telling Spurs of his desire to leave the club for Real, Bale has been keen to underline his happiness at the north Londoners and could yet play a part in a behind-closed-doors friendly against a non-league opponent on Thursday.

Further still, should negotiations with Madrid break down, it is still expected that the former Southampton youngster will play a full and committed part under Villas-Boas in the 2013-14 campaign as Spurs aim to claim a place in top four of the Premier League.

But with Levy now willing to talk to Perez and Real desperate to land their number-one target, a world-record deal is now more likely than ever to be completed in the coming weeks.

REAL MADRID'S CARL ANCELOTTI IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD!.-SERGIO RAMOS

Sergio Ramos has taken the time to praise Carlo Ancelotti and believes the Real Madrid coach is one of the best trainers in the world.

The Italian replaced Jose Mourinho at the helm at the Santiago Bernabeu side this summer and Ramos is confident that the former PSG boss will succeed at the Primera Division giants.

"He's one of the best in the world and we're going to try to enjoy it. Having highly experienced coaches is a very positive thing," the defender said at a press conference.

"You learn a lot from him and hopefully he can bring titles. The important thing is that we understand perfectly what he teaches us and have a good year from there.

"It's a tremendous joy to be here and we hope he has a hard time choosing the team because competition is very important in great teams."

Ramos went on to discuss the arrival of Isco at Madrid and feels the former Malaga man is a valuable addition to the team....

"It's good that young players with ambition and a desire to win trophies are in the squad. He made a difference in his former team. He's good news for the team and can add a lot of great things.

"Competition is always good and we have to expect things from our team-mates. We all want to play and the best players should be the ones that do."

He also had his say on Pepe's situation and is hopeful that the Portugal international will remain at Madrid, despite losing his place to Rafael Varane last season before falling out with Mourinho.

"He's always been a guarantee on the pitch and is one of the best in the world. It would be wonderful if he continues here, but everyone is free to decide their future," Ramos added.

"He continues to form part of this team, which is more or less complete in defence."

LUIS SUAREZ STAYS CLEAR OF OUTSIDE HELP OVER TRANSFER TO ARSENAL!....

Arsenal had hoped Luis Suárez would agitate for a transfer once they had triggered a clause in his Liverpool contract.

Luis Suárez has not requested Premier League intervention in his contract dispute with Liverpool, one week on from Arsenal's club record bid of £40,000,001 for the Uruguay international.

Arsenal had hoped the 26-year-old would agitate for a move from Anfield once they triggered what Suárez and his representatives believed to be a release clause in his contract. But, aside from telling Liverpool that he wants Champions League football next season, the striker has not sought outside assistance from the Premier League over the transfer.

Liverpool maintain the clause entitles Suárez to be informed only of any offer over £40m and for the club to enter discussions with the bidding party should it wish to do so. Suárez could refer the matter to a Premier League regulatory commission, or his lawyers, but the organisation has not been approached by the striker or his representatives.

A Liverpool source said: "We've all examined the clause in detail. All it obliges is good faith negotiations about Luis's future. There is absolutely no obligation to sell and that is very clear.".

BERNARD's FATHER,DELIO DUARTE,ACCUSES ATLETICO MINIERO OF TREATING THE PLAYER LIKE A PUPPET OVER SHAKHTAR DONETSK'S OFFER!

Athletico Miniero are forcing Bernard to move to Shakhtar Donetsk against his will in order to make more money, according to the player's father.

Delio Duarte has previously declared that his son, the 20-year-old Brazil international, has set his heart on a move to Porto after being convinced by compatriot Hulk.

Atletico president Alexandre Kalil revealed on Tuesday that he has accepted a bid from Shakhtar and that the Ukrainian side are the only club to have made an appproach that meets their demands.

Duarte, however, has accused him of ignoring what his son wants and treating him like a puppet.

"I think Atletico Mineiro should respect his wishes," he said..

"I understand Atletico want more money but the player cannot be a puppet. He gave so much to the club, he wants to go to Porto, they should try to reach an agreement.

"He is very focused on the World Cup. I think that, if he goes to Ukraine, he will lose ground. He doesn't even consider this possibility. Portugal is different.

"[Brazil coach Luiz Felipe] Scolari is very fond of Portuguese football and always watches. For him, playing in Portugal would be as or more important than staying here."

Bernard has repeatedly stated that he will not rush his decision and wants to move to a club where he will be able to play his way into the Brazil squad for next summer's World

MASCHERANO IS CONFIDENT THAT FABREGAS WILL REMAIN AT BARCELONA!...

Javier Mascherano is confident team-mate Cesc Fabregas will resist the opportunity to join Manchester United and a return to the Premier League to remain at Barcelona.

United have already has two bids rejected for the ex-Arsenal man as new boss David Moyes sets about strengthening his side's central-midfield position, with Goal exclusively revealing the club will return with a final €40 million bid.

However, Mascherano believes Fabregas is happy with life back in Spain and will be a key player for the club under their new coach Gerardo Martino.

"I didn't talk to him but I think he is happy," he told Sky Sports News. "It is difficult when you have to speak about the personal situation of other players because sometimes you don't know what they think.

"I see him here training and he is happy. He grew up in Barcelona and feels the call of the shirt.

"It is difficult when you grow up here to leave because Barcelona is a big team, a big city, really nice to live in and all his family is here.

"I think he is a really key player for us and I think the coach and the people who work here want to keep him."

ATLETICO MINEIRO ACCEPTS SHAKHTAR DONETSK's OFFER ON BERNARD

Atletico Mineiro have accepted an offer from Shakhtar Donetsk for Bernard, according to the Brazilian club's president.

However, Bernard appears closer to a move to Porto, with his father having revealed that compatriot Hulk has convinced him to move to Portugal, while his agent wants the same and has branded a move to Arsenal "risky".

Rumours in Brazil on Tuesday have indicated that a transfer to the Portuguese champions could be finalised on Friday, but Atletico chief Alexandre Kalil has revealed that, so far, only Shakhtar have submitted an offer that matches the club's asking price of £22 million.

"Things are very advanced, [Wednesday] will probably be his last game [for the club]," he told reporters. "The team is Shakhtar. They offered the value we want. If Bernard wants, he will go.

"If he does not want to go to Ukraine, that's no problem. It's in his hands. I have talked with him. It's a private matter. If he does not want to go, we will not force him."

The 20-year-old has also confirmed that he is considering the offer, but that he is yet to decide if it will be right move for him ahead of next summer's World Cup.
"I don't know if it will be best for me, I'm talking with my family," he was reported as saying by Lancenet. "But nothing is certain yet. I had a meeting with the president and he told me what Shakhtar offered him and myself. It is between Porto and Shakhtar."

Bernard, who has been named in Luiz Felipe Scolari's squad to face Switzerland on August 14, had himself suggested in a press conference on Monday that Wednesday's Brazilian league match against Atletico Paranese would be his final appearance for the Belo Horizonte side.

The attacker also said that he hopes the saga that has surrounded his future is soon brought to a close, but hopes to stay with the Copa Libertadores winners until after December's Club World Cup campaign.

"I want to resolve it quickly, if go or stay, because this story is already boring," he told reporters. "I want to stay [to compete in the Club World Cup], I made it clear I did not want to go before the end of the year.

"If I have the opportunity to sign and go after the Club World Cup that would be very important. I want to have the chance to win it for Atletico."

Bernard, who had attracted interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, wants his next club to provide him with the opportunity to play in the World Cup.

"I've been studying the possibilities and proposals that have been put forward to Atletico and to me," he added. "We are looking and talking, seeing what is best for us.

"I want to be at a club that gives me visibility. I said I want to be at the World Cup and my chances grow by being at a club with good visibility. I want to be playing, regardless of where it is, but I want to be happy."

The suggestion in the Brazilian media, fuelled by talk from Bernard's agent and his father, is that Porto would be a better option for the player given the failure of Willian and Fernandinho to make the Brazil squad on a regular basis while playing in Ukraine.

DAVID MOYES EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE OVER MANCHESTER UNITED's ABILITY TO MAKE NEW SIGNIGNS!...

David Moyes believes Manchester United can still make quality signings in this transfer window.

The Red Devils have had multiple bids for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas turned down and are now considering a move for Everton's Marouane Fellaini as a cheaper and more attainable alternative.

The Scot admits he would have liked to have wrapped up his transfer business at the beginning of the window but says he remains hopeful of completing deals in the coming weeks.

"Ideally, you would get your signings done early. It is better if you can do that. But for different reasons it has not been possible to get them done at this moment in time. But I am confident we will get them done," he said..

The increased spending power of Manchester United's European rivals, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain in particular, has made acquiring the continent's top talent more difficult for the Premier League champions. Moyes, however, believes United can still trump their rivals because of their history and reputation.

He continued: "That is not something Manchester United are frightened of. Manchester United are more than happy to compete with all of the teams. There has been a change in the dynamic because of PSG coming on the scene recently. That has altered things. But Manchester United will always compete.

"One thing it has got is the history. It has got the name. It has got the success. Players do want to be connected to that and one day say they have played for Manchester United. That is a big pull for any player."

The former Everton boss also urged fans to consider the club's long-term future rather than judge him on instant results.

"If you win one game folk will think you are good," he added. "If you lose one folk will think you are rubbish. You hope there is a little bit of sense and people understand where you are going. It is a big job.

"It is a new job. It will take time, as it would for anybody else. In a way, we are as much preparing for next year as we are this year at Manchester United. This club is always preparing for the future. We are looking at targets we hope to sign in a year's time, not necessarily just this year."

NANI NETS IN A BRACE AS MANCHESTER UNITED XI TRIUMPHS BY TWO GOALS IN A FRIENDLY!

Nani scored two goals and Nemanja Vidic returned to action as a Manchester United XI won 2-0 at Crewe Alexandra on Monday.

Nani did not feature on United's pre-season tour of Asia and Australia after being given extra time off due to international commitments and a nasal problem, while Vidic was absent due to sciatica.

It was revealed earlier in July that David Moyes has convinced Nani to remain at Old Trafford this summer and the Portugal international began staking his claim for a place in the starting XI this season.

Nani opened the scoring for United with a curled free kick in the 10th minute, after he was brought down just outside the penalty area.

Vidic looked comfortable on his return and the United captain made a strong interception to stop Max Clayton, after Crewe had lost Mathias Pogba to injury.

The hosts had two good opportunities to score early in the second half but Clayton's shot was saved by Sam Johnstone, with Byron Moore putting the rebound wide, before Lee Molyneux rattled the crossbar.

However, just moments later, Nani scored again as the ball broke kindly for him as he raced into the penalty area and the winger kept his feet to roll the ball into the back of the net.

Vidic was replaced by Ben Pearson in the 62nd minute and, two minutes later, Nani was taken off for compatriot Bebe.

Antonio Valencia also made his first appearance of pre-season ahead of United's friendly against AIK in Stockholm on August 6, before Rio Ferdinand's testimonial game against Sevilla at Old Trafford three days later.

Meanwhile, Crewe start their League One season against newly promoted Rotherham United on Saturday.

MANCHESTER UNITED SETS THEIR SIGHTS ON FELLAINI AS HOPE ON FABREGAS CONTINUES TO FADE...

Manchester United are set to turn their attentions to Marouane Fellaini as their hopes of luring Cesc Fabregas away from Barcelona continue to fade.

The Premier League champions are considering a move to trigger the Everton star's €25.5 million release clause, with Fabregas continuing to look likely to remain a Camp Nou player ahead of talks with coach Gerardo Martino.

Fellaini, who was seen dining at Rio Ferdinand's Rosso restaurant in Manchester over the weekend, will see his release clause increase on August 1 and, as such, United are quickly readying an offer.

Sources close to the club have also indicated that new boss David Moyes is considering a move for Fellaini's team-mate Leighton Baines in what would be a double raid on his former employers. The left-back, who was targeted by Sir Alex Ferguson last summer, is understood to be available for between €17.5m and €23.3m.

The Belgian currently earns €87,000-a-week at Goodison Park and Old Trafford officials are willing to sanction a salary package upwards of that if they submit a bid for his signature.

Moyes, who brought the former Standard Liege star to the Premier League in 2008, is keen to bolster his central-midfield options, with Paul Scholes having retired and Darren Fletcher's ongoing recovery from illness.

United are understood to be losing heart in their pursuit of Fabregas, who emerged as the the club's top summer target after they missed out on Thiago Alcantara, who joined Bayern Munich earlier in July.

Barcelona officials have long insisted that the former Arsenal captain is not for sale this summer, despite repeated and public enquiries from United.

Fellaini is seen as a cheaper alternative in central midfield, and hinted that he would be open to following his former boss to the Premier League champions in May.

"I only want to go to a club where the manager really wants me," said the 25-year-old. "In 2008, Everton did everything to convince me, especially David Moyes. He made me the player I am now."

The Toffees star has impressed United in recent years, scoring twice in his last three games against the Old Trafford side.

NEYMAR SET TO MAKE BARCELONA DEBUT ON TUESDAY!...

Neymar is set to make his Barcelona debut on Tuesday after being named in the squad to face Lechia Gdansk,a Polish side..

The €57 million signing from Santos had his first training session with his new team-mates on Monday after arriving over the weekend from his post-Confederations Cup break.

The rest of the Blaugrana squad who participated in this summer's tournament will not make the trip to Poland, but will instead take part in two practice sessions on Tuesday.

Neymar will join the 21 players who returned from Germany and Norway, with the exception of Javier Mascherano who will remain in Barcelona.

The following squad has been named for Tuesday's friendly against Lechia Gdansk:

Pinto, Oier, Montoya, Bartra, Adriano, Song, Sergi Roberto, Dos Santos, Messi, Tello, Neymar, Alexis, Sergi Gomez, Planas, Joan Roman, Dani Nieto, Bagnack, Samper, Ilie, Patric, Dongou, Espinosa and Kiko Femenia.

ARSENAL TARGET SUNDAY MBA KEEN ON TRANSFER AFTER INCLUSION IN GOAL'S TOP 50 PLAYERS!...

Sunday Mba is hopeful that his selection in this year's Goal 50 will boost his profile as he looks to secure a move to European football.

The Nigeria midfielder was linked with a transfer to Arsenal following his superb displays at the Africa Cup of Nations, but a contract wrangle with Warri Wolves put paid to his ambitions of playing in Europe.

Now the 26-year-old is optimistic that he is back on track, and expressed his pleasure at his inclusion at No.24 in Goal's countdown of the finest players of 2012-13.

"I am on top of the world to hear this," he told Goal. "It is a thing of joy to me. It is not easy for me to make the Goal 50. It will really go a long way to push my football career forward. I am so happy about that."

Mba was the star of the show as Nigeria won the Afcon in January, netting the only goal of the final against Burkina Faso as well as in the quarterfinals against star-studded Cote d'Ivoire.

He was also selected in Stephen Keshi's squad for the recent Confederations Cup, and is ready to meet the demands. He is hopeful that his selection in this year's Goal 50 will boost his profile as he looks to secure a move to European football.

The Gunners arrived back in England on Saturday after finishing a highly successful Asia Tour with a 2-1 victory against Urawa Reds.
Pre-season is very important for the Premier League. It's a long season so we need to be fit - I think we did well
The result followed wins against an Indonesia Dream Team, Vietnam and Nagoya Grampus and Koscielny says optimism is rife ahead of the new campaign.
"We won all our games so that's good for confidence," the France international said. "We had a lot of training and all the players trained very well and gave themselves for the team.
"Pre-season is very important for the Premier League. It's a long season so we need to be fit - I think we did well.
"The wins give us some confidence, and it's good for the next games - the Emirates Cup, [the friendly] against Manchester City and the start of the season."
Koscielny enjoyed every moment of the tour, and was pleased to have the chance to meet Gooners in a different part of the world.
"Everyone was happy with the atmosphere," he said. "The fans are crazy. I didn't know they had a lot of fans here, so it was very good to see them."

MY PRE-SEASON GOALS ARE A GOOD START FOR ME- JERMAIN DEFOE

Jermain Defoe believes his pre-season goals can help him start well in the upcoming Premier League season,

The England international scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 thrashing of South China on Saturday.

"In my experience, over the years, when you're scoring goals they just keep coming, and when you've had a good pre-season, you're scoring goals that lead you into the start of the season.

"I want to get off to a good start and it's important in pre-season games that not only me but all the lads feel fit and sharp.

"It's important to have that confidence going into the games, you get the chances, you don't even think about it, you believe that you're going to score and when you've got that belief, good things happen."

Tottenham's win over South China meant they sealed third place in the Asia Tophy. But Defoe insists that despite the tournament's relative low-profile, it is important to win pre-season games.

"You want to come here and you want to win games," he added.

"It doesn't matter if it's pre-season. It's important to get that winning mentality going into the season, and getting that spirit in the dressing room."

KAGAWA SPURNS CHANCE TO RETURN TO BORUSSIA DORTMUND!...

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa rejected the chance to return to the Bundesliga this summer.

A knee injury restricted the Japan international to just 17 starts in the Premier League last season following his arrival from Dortmund in June 2012.

Kagawa is currently with United's squad for their tour of Asia and netted in the club's 2-2 draw with Cerezo Osaka on Friday.

Klopp, whose side secured a 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the German Supercup on Saturday, says that he contacted the 24-year-old regarding his availability but was told that he wanted to remain at Old Trafford.

"This is not an issue for him this year, not even for us," the BVB coach told Sky.

"It was clear relatively quickly, Shinji wants to prevail this year at Manchester United. I did not expect a different answer, you just have to ask even once."

FABREGAS SET FOR TALKS IN 48 HOURSTO CLARIFY HIS FUTURE WITH BARCELONA!...

Cesc Fabregas will meet with new Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino in the next 48 hours as he seeks assurances over his future at Camp Nou.

The Manchester United target wants to clarify his position with Martino ahead of publicly announcing his intentions this summer, with Barcelona having already rejected two approaches from the Premier League champion for the 26-year-old.

Martino insisted on Friday that the Catalans would also dismiss any further approaches from United for the midfielder after it was revealed last week that the club was preparing an improved bid of 41 million euros for the former Arsenal star.

Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has also previously ruled out any chance of the club selling the Spain international, insisting: "Whatever offer United make, however big, we will say no. Cesc Fabregas will stay a Barcelona player."

However, Fabregas is keen to meet with his new manager to ensure he remains key to the club's plans next term, and United are understood to be losing heart in their pursuit of the midfielder.

After Thiago Alcantara opted to join Bayern Munich ahead of United earlier in July, Fabregas has emerged as David Moyes' priority signing this summer.

The United boss admitted on Sunday that he was unsure whether his side will continue its efforts to sign Fabregas but insisted he will add to his squad before the close of the transfer window.

"I couldn't tell you if there will be another bid," Moyes said. "Obviously we'll take stock and make a decision on what we do next but we have a good squad already. You can't forget about the quality that's already here.

"Undoubtedly we hope to add to it and I'm quite confident we'll do that... certainly before the window shuts."

LUIS SUAREZ,GARETH BALE AND ROBERTO SOLDADO! WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON?

They are three world class players at the top of their game in two of the most competitive leagues in the world....

Luis Suarez is being bid for by Arsenal FC with the hopes of the cessation of an eight year trophy drought hanging around his neck..He is being likened to a rainmaker by Arsenal followers...

Gareth Bale has allegedly received a whopping bid of over 80million pounds by Real Madrid..He is so much desired at the Bernabeu..

Roberto Soldado has been poaching the goals at Valencia, and Tottenham can not kill their avarice for his goals as they have just agreed on a £25.9m price for the player.

What do these three have in common?

If Real Madrid's desire for Gareth Bale is satisfied, then they will have no need for Luis Suarez, who's been courted by Arsenal...

On his own part,Roberto Soldado would have his work cut out for him because, he will be playing without an excellent playmaker in Gareth Bale at Tottenham if all three deals fall through..

Another mundane but noteworthy common fact among these three is that,as yet, none of the deals have been signed, sealed and delivered!....

ROONEY IS NOT WORTH 50million POUNDS- JOSE MAURINHO

The Blues boss is adamant that there would be no need to offload players to balance the budget should he sign the Manchester United star, despite having bought already this summer

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that the club would not have to offload any current players in order to sign Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.

The Londoners are expected to make a renewed bid for the England striker after the Red Devils turned down their opening offer, despite the disgruntled forward being "hell bent" to leave Old Trafford.

"The club are working hard to keep the numbers in balance but we can still invest in a player who costs 20 million pounds, 25 million pounds, 30 million pounds and not break the balance," Mourinho told the press. "We don't need to sell to do that."

Asked if he could spend 50 million pounds on a striker, he added: "The striker I want doesn't cost 50 million pounds."

The Blues boss declared on Thursday that he was "calm" about his pursuit of the United forward, with a sizable stable of strikers at his disposal should the move not materialize.

Red Devils legend Paul Scholes, however, argues that it would be best for Rooney to stay put.

Mourinho has already added the likes of Andre Schurrle and Marco van Ginkel to his Chelsea squad this summer, with the England international his only remaining target.

HIGUAIN GIVEN A HEROIC WELCOME BY NAPOLI FANS!..

The Argentina striker was mobbed by fans when he arrived in Naples to complete his move from Real Madrid and thousands have secured tickets for his official unveiling on Monday

Gonzalo Higuain's move from Real Madrid to Napoli has sparked widespread excitement amongst the club's fans, with 50,000 supporters set to greet the striker at his unveiling.

The deal, reported to have cost the Azzurri €40 million, was confirmed by the club on Saturday with president Aurelio De Laurentiis tweeting a picture of himself and the striker as the contract was signed.

"Higuain and [Pepe] Reina have passed their medicals and will soon join the rest of the group," the 64-year-old confirmed on Twitter.

"On Monday there will be a big party at the San Paolo. You will be able to get to know the new players and the new shirts."

The news of the event at the club's stadium on Monday has prompted a frenzy amongst Partonopei followers. Fifty thousand tickets have already been sold for the unveiling, which also includes entry to the friendly with Galatasaray.

The passionate welcome has drawn comparisons with the arrival of Higuain's illustrious compatriot, Diego Maradona, who signed for Napoli in 1984.

The 25-year-old forward arrives after scoring 122 goals in six seasons in Madrid, while goalkeeper Reina joins on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

PEP GUARDIOLA's HOLIDAYING DAYS ARE OVER!...

And so the honeymoon is over. After a barnstorming pre-season, Pep Guardiola took charge of his first competitive Bayern Munich game on Saturday and was brought back to reality by a brilliant Borussia Dortmund performance.

Since the Spaniard's move to Germany was confirmed in January, with BVB star Mario Gotze following him in May, the whole world has been predicting a one-team Bundesliga, with the Bavarians streets ahead of the so-called competition.

But Jurgen Klopp's side have responded. From the first minute of their 4-2 victory, they were at their rivals, chasing them, harrying them, bullying them, and it certainly paid off.

On the back of their Champions League final loss to Bayern, Dortmund have been rebuilding, bringing proven quality to the club in the form of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, ready to take their fight against die Roten's hegemony in Germany into the new season.

They thoroughly deserved their victory and their trophy and have got their season off to the perfect start.

Redemption: BVB beat their rivals for the first time in over a year

For Pep, meanwhile, there is plenty to mull over. Bayern's signing of Thiago Alcantara raised some eyebrows, given the wealth of talent they already possessed in midfield, but his deployment as the sole defensive midfielder was a disaster - particularly given some of the brilliant passing he showcased when further up the pitch.

Time and time again, Dortmund were able to tear through the centre of the park with the boundless energy of Ilkay Gundogan and Sven Bender and punish their rivals. How the visitors missed the security Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinsteiger provided last term.

Had Guardiola wanted to play a recognised holding midfielder, he had Luiz Gustavo, a proven performer who was on song for his country during the recent Confederations Cup, sitting there on the bench.

His 4-1-4-1 formation looks to be fraught with problems too. Thomas Muller found himself limited by his more conservative role, Arjen Robben, despite his two goals, was marginalised by his deeper starting position for much of the game and the full-backs struggled to find space until Dortmund grew a bit more tired.

They looked vulnerable on the break - just as they did during Wednesday's pre-season friendly with Barcelona. It was a far cry from the defensive brilliance that propelled them to a record-breaking Bundesliga campaign last term.

While it takes time for a team to learn a new formation, the potential pitfalls of this gameplan are there for all to see and they will need a more solid foundation against Germany and Europe's finest.

"The winner is always happy and the loser does not care too much - this is the great thing about the Supercup"

- Jurgen Klopp

For BVB, they will feel vindicated. They failed to overcome Bayern on any of the five occasions they met last term and, though Klopp was quick to emphasise that he was not viewing the Supercup as a revenge mission, they have a much-needed win to give them some momentum ahead of the new season.

Last term, following a 2-1 win over BVB in the Supercup, Bayern were the quicker out of the blocks in the league, with Dortmund playing catch-up for the whole season until Jupp Heynckes' side's inevitable title triumph in April.

"It was an amazing game. I think you could see that both teams really wanted to win," Klopp said after the game. "The winner is always happy and the loser does not care too much - this is the great thing about the Supercup." And they will carry those high spirits into the season.

Of course, Bayern were missing key men in the form of Manuel Neuer, Dante, Martinez, Schweinsteiger, Franck Ribery and Gotze, but the hosts were without the services of Lukasz Piszczek and Henrikh Mkhitaryan - key players in their own right.

German football is back after a two-month absence and far from having a walk in the park, Guardiola's Bayern will be pushed all the way by the Schwarzgelben this term.

LUIS SUAREZ CONFIDES IN ARTETA REGARDING HOUSING AND SCHOOLS IN LONDON!...

The wantaway Liverpool striker has confided in the former Everton man over housing and schools in the capital after telling the Anfield outfit of his intention to leave

Luis Suarez told Liverpool earlier this week that he wants to leave the club and join Arsenal this summer.

We can reveal that the Uruguayan has now begun looking for houses and schools in London.

It is understood that the father-of-one has spoken on the phone to Arsenal vice-captain and fellow Spanish speaker Mikel Arteta about both where his family would live were they to relocate to the capital and possible schools for his young daughter, Delfina.

Arteta is highly regarded at Arsenal for his leadership skills and vocal dressing-room presence and is expected to lead the team in the opening two months of the new season in the absence of the injured Thomas Vermaelen.

His conversations with Suarez demonstrate the Uruguayan's growing desire to leave Anfield and become Arsenal's club-record signing.

As revealed earlier, the Gunners lodged a second formal bid for the striker on Monday, believed to be worth £42 million including add-ons.

Liverpool insist that Suarez is not for sale and have let it be known to the player's camp that he would have to lodge an official transfer request in writing in order to leave Merseyside. Sources have said that the forward is ready do so as he steps up his plans to remove one of the obstacles to his exit.

Arsenal believe that they have been given enough encouragement from the Uruguayan's representatives that he is keen to move to the Emirates Stadium and are increasingly confident that they can capture the 26-year-old, with no other club yet to make a bid for him.

However, any prospective deal has been muddied by the contents of a £40m clause in Suarez's contract, which his advisers believe entitles him to ask for permission to speak to any club that matches the price.

But Liverpool claim they only have to inform Suarez and the clause does not oblige them to sell. There is the prospect that the player may take legal action to force through a move.

Pep Guardiola's 'reign' begins today as Bayern Munich lock horns with Borussia Dortmund in the German Supercup .....

The long wait is finally over. Six months after Pep Guardiola was first confirmed as the next Bayern Munich coach, he has his first competitive game in charge of the Bavarians. And it could not be a tougher one - a trip to Borussia Dortmund.

Since he first charmed the world at his official unveiling at the club a month ago, the Spaniard has enjoyed a flying start to life in Germany, winning all of his pre-season friendlies convincingly - though question marks pervade.

Having experimented with a 4-1-4-1 formation in warm-up ties, what gameplan will he use in the competitive arena? Will Philipp Lahm revert to his strongest role as a right-back after being used as a midfielder in pre-season? Where will Mario Gotze fit in once he returns from injury?

The 21-year-old's potential return to Signal Iduna Park to make his Bayern debut would have made for a fascinating sub-plot to the Supercup, but now the attention is bound to be on the Catalan coach, who is up for the challenge.

"It is the first time I will coach in Signal Iduna Park. I have been told it is a very special experience, but a final is always special," Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference.

"It is a title and a title is always important. It is an honor to challenge for this trophy but if you are Bayern coach, you have no excuses or apologies if you lose."

For Dortmund, the fixture represents the perfect chance to enact some form of revenge after losing to Bayern in the Champions League final. Having also lost both their DFB-Pokal and Bundesliga crowns to their hated Bavarian rivals last season, BVB then saw their best player swap Signal Iduna Park for the Allianz Arena.

However, Dortmund have invested well this summer and prevented Robert Lewandowski from following Gotze to Bayern, and are ready to make another charge for the title.

The German season starts now, and it promises to be the most fascinating one in years.

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal is prepared to wait for Suarez!...

Arsene Wenger has broken his silence on Arsenal's pursuit of Luis Suarez, claiming the north London club are "prepared to wait" to sign the Liverpool striker.

It was revealed that the Gunners had made an improved £40 million bid for the Uruguay international, who is willing to submit a transfer request in order to force a move.

But, with Anfield managing director Ian Ayre confirming that both bids were rejected, Arsenal remain a long way away from agreeing a deal, but Wenger is prepared to bide his time.

We are not close to signing Suarez ... or anyone else," Arsene told reporters in Saitama, Japan.

"We are ready to do quick deals but all the transfers do not depend only on us. We are prepared to wait.

"There is nothing to say [on the Suarez deal]. I have been away now for two or [three] weeks and it's hard to see how things are advanced because everyone is on tour at the moment and it's very difficult to get in touch with people.

"It looks very unlikely that we will have anyone before the Emirates Cup next week, but we still have a strong squad."

Although Arsenal have only made one signing this summer, Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from Auxerre, Wenger is confident his current squad have what it takes to win silverware this season.

"With or without additions we can be title challengers next season," the French boss added.

"We try to do the job and we will try to do it well, but nothing has been concluded with anybody.

"What we want is not a name but a good player. The name is less important. What is more important is the quality of the player. At the moment I must tell you we are not close to signing anybody.

"Of course we want to sign as many top players as we can, but we also have to focus on the players we have and develop them."

Cavani could face Real Madrid on Sunday!...

Laurent Blanc has revealed Paris Saint-Germain's 64 million pound signing Edinson Cavani could make his debut for the club in a friendly against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The Uruguay international will link up with his new teammates in Gothenburg this weekend and the 47-year-old PSG boss will assess his physical condition - and that of Thiago Silva - before making a decision over their participation.

"That's very difficult to give you an answer to that question," Blanc told reporters at a press conference. "Edinson arrives in Paris this Saturday. We have to see what condition he is in. Thiago Silva arrived on Thursday. Will he be ready for Bordeaux? For the moment, I don't know. At any rate, he has been working hard in Brazil and he is already in pretty good shape. We will see if they are ready, but we won't be taking any risks."

The contest with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit is set to throw up several reunions, with Carlo Ancelotti clashing with PSG for the first time since departing les Parisiens earlier this summer and Zinedine Zidane - who is now Madrid's sporting director - sitting in the opposite dug-out to former France teammate, Blanc.

And the former Bleus boss compared Ibrahimovic with the France great for the impacts the pair have made in their respective countries.

He said: "Yes, I think you can [compare Ibrahimovic and Zidane]. Zlatan represents a lot here. He is Swedish, so it's normal that there is so much attention on him here. I think he is proud of that because he represents a lot for the people of Sweden. We are talking about two soccer icons.

"It's always great to see him again. Throughout my playing career, I always preferred to playing with him rather than against him! But it is always a pleasure to catch up on and off the pitch."

Paris Saint-Germain kicks off the defense of its Ligue 1 title against Bordeaux on Aug. 3.

Arsenal's Santi Cazorla plays down on Athletico return rumours...

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has played down rumours linking him with a return to La Liga with Atletico Madrid this summer.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Gunners from Malaga a year ago, was reported to be subject to heavy interest from los Rojiblancos this month, but he was keen to play down the transfer speculation.

"Much has been made the subject of Atletico Madrid, but I am very good in London," Cazorla told gathered media at a campus in Oviedo. "I have a contract with Arsenal and I start training on Monday.

"We'll see when I come back to La Liga - it is very difficult right now."

Cazorla did, however, express his delight that Spain international team-mate and new Atletico Madrid striker David Villa secured the transfer from Barcelona that he craved this summer.

"I'm very happy for him because he's had a difficult year at Barcelona with the injury, and now he can enjoy football again."

Valencia's boss Djukic finally admits that Roberto Soldado could leave the club for White Hart Lane!...

Valencia manager Miroslav Djukic has admitted that star striker and Tottenham target Roberto Soldado could leave the club this summer.

Soldado has been the subject of much speculation this summer, leading club president Amadeo Salvo to state that the 28-year-old could leave the Mestalla for €30 million (£25.9m).

It can be recalled that it was revealed on Thursday that the Spanish international is considering handing in a transfer request to force a move to Spurs, while Andre Villas-Boas described his admiration for the forward earlier in the week.

"The possibility that he will leave is real," Djukic is quoted as saying by Super Deporte.

"Soldado is our striker and if he stays then he will be the reference point up front."

Even if Soldado leaves, Djukic revealed that the Liga club are already looking to bolster a thin forward line.

He added: "Valencia are working on various options in case Soldado does leave, but we have too (few) forwards, either with Soldado or especially without him.

"We have to remember though that Valencia the club is greater than any player."
